In Search of a Perfect Thing….

Sometimes life is like burned sweet potatoes...

Here’s one of the things I love about my job….the fact that once the day is over….the clock rings 6:30pm(ok it doesn’t ring, but you get the idea)…..I can scrape that day off.  Just shake it off and move on. Those newscasts are over..O-V-E-R…and you can’t get any of it as a mulligan…no matter how much you would like to. It. Is. Done. And the next day you get up and attempt once again put on the perfect newscast(which is like looking for  a pearl at the bottom of the ocean).

So even though you seek perfection everyday…you rarely find it…wherever you are.  Sometimes the recycling crew just doesn’t finish the job….and you have to haul what they left back home. Sigh.

Come on guys, can't you just take it all???

Sometimes you drop almond butter on your white blouse and have to CUT OFF  the dirty bits with scissors, because spot cleaning ain’t getting it. Barbarian, I know.

Snip snip...luckily this blouse lends itself to editing....

But there are some perfect things in the world…Pumpkin pie ice cream…yes, it is as good as it sounds…

Delicious, and perfect....

A tree as it puts on a lovely orange dress….

Lovely, and perfect....

A gin and tonic, made with Hendrick’s gin  and cucumber slices….

Refreshing, and perfect....

Dinner, with a pretty view….

Gorgeous, and perfect....

Baby Girl’s fluffy belly fur….♥♥♥.

So fluffy, so perfect....

What are your perfect things?

  1. The smell of freshly baked bread, the way my yard looks after a rain, Vermont in the fall, the taste of fresh peaches, and the sound of my son laughing – those are my perfect things…

  2. love it!!

  3. After being together for 18 years – getting married in September and having the joy of coming home and making dinner for my husband, the smell of pumpkin bread baking, and knowing that christmas cookie baking season is coming soon and we all get to come home to the fresh scent of cookies baking for about a month.

  4. it’s nice to think about what’s perfect for you…..almost like a gratitude list..

  5. My 5-year-old son’s joyful laughter during a tickle attack (he loves them), a juicy ripe mango in the Philippines (not these that are picked when they are green, but right off the tree ripe), a clean program compile the first time (yes, I’m a nerd), my wife’s smile when I come home from a hard day at work (how she manages it with a 500 mph 5-year-old running around is a mystery to me!), and the fresh smell after a summer thunderstorm passes through.

  6. NICE….

  7. Donna
Orange goop that the guys use to clean their hands works wonders on greasy butter stains.

  8. Good question, Donna….! I would have to say… a briskly chilly, cloudy day (where the chilly air you breathe makes you feel more alive)…. a perfect chocolate bar….. the peaceful time you spend with your loved ones …. a morning where you get to sleep in longer than normal …… a good song to sing along with comes on the radio in one’s car… and a good conversation with a good friend where you feel you’ve reconnected. 🙂 I’d say those would be among my perfect things.

  9. kingsford? NOT perfect, but I agree with all others and include a perfect omlette made from natural farm fresh eggs
