Hydrangea Heaven

I think the state saying for Rhode island should be….”Stone walls and Hydrangea….what’s not to like?” That’s what I thought driving along the coast. We were visiting Steve and Darlene, good friends from way back, who have a house close to the shore in a little town there.

But I discovered the most brilliant French Blue Hydrangeas there….it’s all in the soil of course.
There was even a hydrangea farm, long rows of them as you can see in the picture, and yes, they were all for sale… 25 bucks for a big three gallon plant….

There were hydrangea nuts there with me, trying to take home a little big of vacation beauty. And when you’re traveling with a cooler, and luggage, in a pretty small car, it takes creative thinking to get not one, but TWO in our car!

But it can be done, and I have the proof. Yes, I know, the visibiity out the rear view mirror wasn’t pristine, but we made it, baby!
